Even mine elect will be deceived.

I'm exceedingly sad at this time as yet another chuch family has advised they wish to have their names removed from the church records. They don't want any members to contact them either :( I have tears in my eyes as I consider the feelings of he Saviour at this time and the pain he has to endure. I'm guessing they have read some church history and its complexity that shocked their 'fundamentalist' expectations. This is why it is so important to study the gospel, in your own time, to become more mature in your beliefs, attitudes and perspectives. There are three levels of Mormon history. Level A, is the Sunday School version. Everything on level A is obviously good and true and harmonious. Level B, however, is the anti- Mormon version of the same story...on this level, everything that you thought was good and true and harmonious actually turns out to be evil and false and chaotic. The church typically seeks to keep it's members on Level A or, at least, feels no obligation to bring them to a deeper level. That is up to us. Why? Because souls are lost on level B. Furthermore, although level C might be more academically desirable, it cannot be accessed without at least some exposure to Level B. If I was to be in a leadership position, I would probably make that same decision. Once members of the church have been exposed to level B (as I was) their only help is to press onto the more richer, more complicated version of history that is to be found on level C which turns out to be essentially, and profoundly like level A. Not everybody needs level C. To reach level C, we must be willing to become more spiritually mature in our beliefs. We must be willing to let go of idealistic fantasies, myths, and folklore. We must be willing to add more beliefs to our world views and we must be openminded enough to synthesise competing beliefs, or as some say, cognitions. I sit here now wondering what it was. An oversimplification of the DNA theory? Blacks and the Priesthood? Anachronisms in the Book of Mormon? Masonic rituals in the temple? Unrealistic expectations of prophets? The Book of Abraham? The list can actually go on for pages. It's all about perspective and expectations. I have been invited to read anti-Mormon books from friends, and in most cases have done so. Most of the time I put them down half way through for several different reasons which I don't have time to get into now! I remember a friend of mine giving the book 'Rough Rolling Stone' by Bushman to a family. If you didnt already know, Bushman is an LDS historian, either that or a religious scholar (can't remember which one). They too had their names removed from church records because they didn't know Joseph Smith was a polygamist! Even something basic like that. This knowledge can be aquired through reading the Ensign! I hope this never happens to me :/ You just never know :/ however it could quite possibly be something else! It frustrates me sometimes when leaders have no answers to those struggling and say 'pray about it', or have more faith. This simply doesn't work in most cases. Their judgement is so clouded they need 'something' to give them some hope so they can then pray to know if it's true. And this is the only way to know if the Book of Mormon is true. Ask God. He knows, and he will absolutely tell you by the power of the Holy Ghost :) I am grateful that I know it to be true. I am a convert, and I will never forget when Heavenly Father told me so. Here I am assuming that this was the reason. 'Assumption' is the mother of all stuff ups- so they say. Haha
