Wagging school :-o

Tommy didn't wake up on the right side of the bed today. He was complaining that his socks were too long and he couldn't find his swimming shirt. It was the last day of school for 2009 and Tommy just couldn't find the motivation to go. The boys usually leave to go to school early to play handball but sometimes Tommy stays behind and leaves a little later like he did today. When he leaves later he usually leaves at 8am, jumps the fence and walks across the road to school. Not today though. It was 8:05am and he was upset that he didn't think he would get to school on time and he wanted me to drive him. I said no because I knew that he had ample time and I was not dressed yet, so he was not happy. I led him out the back door and closed it thinking he was off to school. At 8:45 I drove Olea to school and decided to do some Christmas shopping and food shopping which took around 3 hours. When I got home, Tommy greeted me at the door and I said "what are you doing home so early? Did Mrs Squibb say you could come home early because it was the last day at school?" "Yes" he says. I'm thinking to myself, that just doesn't sound right. I'm really surprised that the teacher let him walk home, not knowing if I'd be there or not. Nevertheless I spent some quality time with him with no other kids around, took him to the shops with me, bought him an ice-cream, we held hands and had a nice time. I questioned him a bit more about his teacher letting him come home and decided to tell him that I didn't think that he actually went to school. He started acting coy, and then I knew something wasn't right. I told him he needed to tell me the truth or I would ring the school to find out. He ended up telling me the truth. When he went outside he turned around and came back inside while I wasn't looking and sat in his bedroom. I don't think he really meant to stay home from school, he was expecting me to drive him when I took Olea (maybe). I banned him from the computer on the weekend and didn't get too angry with him. I believe a soft answer turneth away wrath, and it seems to be working. He knows he did the wrong thing, and I know when he is truly feeling sorry, which he was. I love my little Tuckers and know that he is a good little guy and has good intentions most of the time :-D How funny, I can hear Ammon in the background calling him Tacos instead of Tuckers and he is not happy!
