Yesterday, Olea received a merit certificate that read:

Olea has been working hard during literacy sessions to develop her persuasive writing. She is showing great persistence in trying to remember the correct framework for an exposition. Congratulations Olea!

Her teacher, Miss Colby (whom she adores), gave her a note letting me know that she would be receiving the merit certificate the next day. Olea knew that she was getting it - she told me that her teacher told her! They don't usually do this, as they like it to be a surprise! I wasn't bothered, as Olea was so excited, she went to bed earlier than usual so she wouldn't be late for school! She isn't usually late, she just wanted to make sure! Anne-Marie came to our house that morning for seminary because Jared had the car for ship-loading so she was up at 5:15 with the boys!

As an aside: These are the photos of Tommy and Olea on their first day of school. Tommy has also been selected (along with a couple of other students) as School Photographer which he is thrilled to bits about!
